I would like to thank you for all your help coordinating the past few weeks. Additionally, I want to extend a complement to the staff that assisted us last evening. They were simply outstanding. Not only was dinner fantastic, but they really worked with me to find ways to accommodate the needs of the group. Everyone was raving about how excellent the entire experience was and it wouldn't have been the same without the extremely professional staff you had working.

My husband and I were visiting from Chicago and we met a bartender in Port Washington who said her husband sold rabbits to your restaurant.  She talked about how it was a locally driven food restaurant and we like that idea and wanted to go for that reason alone.  I looked it up on my phone and saw that they offered vegan foods, which we are vegans.  When we got there our server was great. (Nicholas) He suggested the various vegan foods for us.  We had a tomato bread soup, seitan chipolte, a cauliflower dish, a parsnip dish, broccoli and grapes salad, and dessert was a banana dish with coconut and rum raisons.  We scraped our plate clean on every plate, the food was so good.  I was full but the flavors kept me eating.  I have never been to a restaurant where I have liked the food so much.  And being a vegan, I have very low expectations of getting good food from a restaurant, even those who have vegan as their billing. Amazing food, we will definitely be back with some friends, I can not stop talking about your restaurant.  Thank you.

My girlfriend and I love your restaurant – we think it's the best in Milwaukee and we really have enjoyed fabulous memories with great friends and fantastic food there as well as your cooking class at the Public Market, which is why I chose Roots to celebrate our recent engagement. I wanted to include Lindsay's parents at the dinner, so I called on Tues and made a reservation for four at 6:30pm on Fri.; I told them we would be celebrating our engagement and asked if it there was any way we could have a table that has a great view of the city. After she said "YES!", we headed over to Roots, which is across town from my place (and her parents' place), it was snowing like crazy and we all got stuck in traffic. Fearing the worst, I called Roots (like three times) to let them know we were running a little late and when we got there, I was so pleased to find out that they not only didn't give our table away on a very busy Fri. night – they gave us a table with the best view of the city (IMO); we (of course) enjoyed fantastic food that was unexpectedly followed-up with a delicious dessert tray &quo;on the house&quo;. John, I just wanted to drop you a quick email and let you know that we not only appreciate that you and your staff went out of your way to assure our engagement celebration was fantastic, but we can't say enough great things about your restaurant and staff and especially the food that you create. I recommend Roots all the time and every one of my friends that has eaten there has given me rave-reviews as well.

P.S. please always keep sea scallops on your menu, Roots' scallops are out-of-this world!

I just went out and picked another load of peppers from my little Thai Pepper plant that I received from you on Mother's Day and thought I should send you a photo of it and tell you first of all what a wonderful time I had at brunch and how much fun it has been to pick the hundreds of peppers all summer from my plant.

First and foremost, having our wedding reception at Roots was a GREAT decision. The venue was gorgeous, the food was delicious, and most importantly, it all felt effortless.

When compared to other venues we had looked at, Roots was the most accommodating to our needs (as we are both graphic designers, we had some big ideas) and most accommodating to our budget. The event planners  were  incredibly helpful and really took charge on what they thought was possible and what perhaps was a bit out of reach. They took time out of their day multiple times to allow us to come into Roots (while it was closed) and negotiate tables, match colors and just generally take time to envision the day. They helped us to create to floor plans (one for rain and one for sun) that could have been changed around within in seconds, which was incredibly important for us (luckily it was a gorgeous night). The most important, though, was the food! The food is what drew us to Roots and, as usual, it did not disappoint! It was a relief to not have to worry about coordinating with a separate caterer  and their tables, linens, bar, etc. It is still (some 3 months and many friend’s weddings later) not uncommon for us to hear from guests about how amazing the food was and how they’ve never been to a wedding quite like ours. We can’t stress enough how great it was to have the wonderful staff at Roots at our side…they left us nothing to worry about except having a great time!
